A Great Car Guy

While I’ve long respected DeMuro as an automotive journalist, his recent purchase of a 2005 Ford GT made it clear he understands how to use his money to create great experiences for himself. In short, his recent purchase of a Ford GT exemplified the Weathered Wallet mentality and that is why I’m celebrating him as a genuinely exceptional car guy. To clarify though, this post is neither a review nor endorsement of Doug DeMuro’s articles or videos. Rather, it’s a nod to his unique and informed perspective about the costs of being a “car guy.”

Debt: The Good Old Days

20% today is the APR on a credit card, not the interest rate on an investment. So, does that mean we’re in ‘The Good Old Days’ and can finally reassure Andy Bernard, from The Office, that there is a way to know we’re in the good old days, before we’ve actually left them? Well, if he’s talking about interest rates and not his acapella group at Cornell, then yes. Living in The Good Old Days of interest rates might yield a secondary effect on us later in life too.

Weathered Wallet: The Mission

A few years ago, I thought I had leprosy...but of course I didn’t have leprosy. When I eventually visited my dermatologist, she effortlessly diagnosed my mundane case of eczema, prescribed a topical steroid, then sent me on my way. I was not proud of the misdiagnosis I gave myself. Humbled, I marinated on this week-long experience and realized something interesting, special in fact.
