A few years ago, I thought I had leprosy...but of course I didn’t have leprosy. When I eventually visited my dermatologist, she effortlessly diagnosed my mundane case of eczema, prescribed a topical steroid, then sent me on my way. I was not proud of the misdiagnosis I gave myself. Humbled, I marinated on this week-long experience and realized something interesting, special in fact.
